Service Description

This course has been designed specifically for those Leaders with no or limited pulling experience who wish to learn to pull. Participants are expected to have: Some experience on the water, not necessarily in pulling boats The ability to tie basic knots A basic understanding of water safety rules and the Scout rules for pulling. The ability to meet the requirements of the Scout Swimming Test. The course will be delivered by suitably qualified and experienced Leaders from 1st Sutton Coldfield and other local Sea Scout Groups overseen by British Rowing qualified coaching personnel. During the course participants will be taught the basics of pulling, crew a variety of single handed and crewed craft and cox craft under the supervision of a pulling instructor. There is no formal national governing body qualification for pulling however at the end of the course those Leaders deemed sufficiently competent will have the opportunity to complete a pulling permit technical assessment. There are 6 places available on this course. The course will start at 0900 on 23 March 24 and complete by 1600 on 24 March 24. The course cost is fully subsidised by the ALNSASU.
